Welcome to Brownstone Psychotherapy.
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and I provide individual and couple psychotherapy in Denver, Colorado. My approach to therapy is honest, focused, and warm. You will experience me as a full human being who shares input, thoughts, and tools as you explore your most deeply held and vulnerable experiences through the therapy process. I am an advocate of social justice and equity; these values are present in the way I act as a psychologist and person.
It is important for my clients to know that my full-time job is as an Assistant Professor of the Practice at University of Denver’s Counseling Psychology Program where I teach and supervise students learning to be therapists. Therefore, my private practice is part-time and I have limited flexibility for scheduling.
In addition to my work as a psychologist clinician and teacher, I am active in research collaboration, and my areas of focus include: disordered eating, trauma, stigma, and identity. I also like to play music (fiddle, vocals, guitar), play with my dogs, and spend time in nature.
I completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as my predoctoral psychology internship at the Denver VA Medical Center, followed by my postdoctoral fellowship at Eating Disorder Care of Denver where I stayed on as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. While at EDCare, I served as the Binge Eating Disorder Track Coordinator, and engaged in program development related to social justice through the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
I use she and they pronouns, and provide affirming care to all.
I provide empirically supported individual, couple, and group therapies, using a combination of open-ended listening, empathic attention, and teaching of specific skills to help you actively improve your current situation. I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy and draw from other theories, including multicultural, feminist, and psychodynamic.
Here I provide more information about my therapy approach, training, areas of expertise, and research.
